The Importance of First Impressions
Read this short article that points out the importance of first impressions and how improving existing writing can help towards successful blogging. Being successful blogging means producing and publishing content that is unique and rich in quality. Consider the advise in this short article, it can do nothing but help you achieve your goals in the never ending challenge of successful blogging.
I was inspired to write this article after reading an article on ProBlogger.net titled, “The Kenny Rogers Guide to Getting People to Read Your Whole Posts “. It is a short article that will capture your attention.
Everyone knows that first impressions are important. But sometimes I think people forget to consider this when publishing online. Blogs are ever growing and its challenging to compete with sites that have already been online for years. That is what is seems like anyway…
There is so much content online, its a blessing that we have Google to sort through it all. I really think Google does a great job presenting the highest quality content first. When you visit Google and search for something, 9.9 times out of 10 you will find what you need. You don’t have to worry about reading pages with broken links, unloading images, and reading irrelevant content. For the most part, when you use Google to search for content, if the content exists Google will link you to it. If there are one hundred pages that have the content you are looking for, Google will deliver the best quality to you first.
A viewers First Impression of your site needs to be one to remember. What makes your site different from the rest? Secondly, what reasons have you given your viewer to save your site and visit it again? These are questions you need to ask yourself when you are publishing online… unless you are publishing online for yourself, which isn’t likely… You Want People To Read What You Write!
If you have been blogging for awhile, it would be an excellent idea to spend some time reading your existing blog articles. You would be amazed to discover the amount of changes you might want to make. You might catch a spelling or grammar error. You might discover that you forgot to reference a page that backs up an opinion. Again it might surprise you with how many edits you might end up making to a previously published article.
People sometimes have the mind set that a published article is a finished article. It doesn’t have to be that way! New content spreads like wild fire on the Internet and unfortunately, the quality of the content found online is decreasing. People publish new content with the intention to help, inform, educate, or entertain people. And it feels like a rat race to see who can publish the most content. If you are a blogger with 50 articles published on the Internet. Each article has been online for six months and has acquired a total of 100,000 views. This number is nothing compared to the amount of views each article will receive over a period of two years.
Take a break for a little bit. I am not suggesting to stop publishing new content. I am suggesting that you invest a little time in each day to re-visit your existing work and closely review what you have written. I am not sure about you, but everyday is a learning experience for me with Online Publishing. Taking what I know today, and applying it to an article that I wrote a year ago, I know for fact that I could deliver an improved first impression and increase reader interest by making changes to the old articles.
